My current research explores the factors resulting in the decline of two island bird species. Specifically, my group is focusing on the reproductive biology, habitat use, dispersal and major predators of the Mariana crow and Rota Bridled White-eye on the island of Rota, N. Mariana Islands. I am also involved in a project that utilizes mitochondrial DNA sequencing to determine phylogenetic relationships between American crows, Fish crows, and Northwestern crows across a wide geographic range. My collaborators and I are primarily interested in determining the origins of the Northwestern crow that I have studied behaviorally. This project is in the final stages, and I have two new studies in the planning stage that will focus on foraging and social behavior with Northwestern crows.
