Short Project Description

Gambling Projects has three different projects all focused on understanding gambling behavior and problem gambling among college students. Two projects are focused on basic research in which students complete surveys about their gambling behavior. One of basic research projects also collects physiological measures of gambling arousal. The third project is developing a web-based prevention project aimed at at-risk gamblers and following them longitudinally to test the effectiveness of web-based gambling prevention program. Research assistant could be involved with all three projects, which are discussed at research team meetings. If you would like the opportunity to learn about physiological research and/or clinical interventions related to gambling and gambling problems among college students, and would like to learn about Motivational Interviewing: an effective therapeutic style used in health promotion, and other aspects of behavior change/maintenance, please join our team! We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and conscientious students.

Other: Students will be familiarized with prevention interventions aimed at problematic gambling and its consequences among college students. Students will also be familiarized with Motivational Interviewing: an effective therapeutic style used in substance use, health promotion, and other aspects of behavior change/maintenance.

Skills / Experience Preferred

Computer skills such as MS Access or SPSS are desirable.
