Short Project Description

Gain research experience and apply technical skills to working with young adolescents in school settings by assisting field staff working in schools. Field work research will provide students with opportunities to: 1. Understand and apply research protocols and procedures involved in sampling and recruiting youth into prevention research studies 2. Develop skills in school-based data collection with youth, teachers, and parents 3. Become familiar with communication and approaches for working in and collaborating with schools 4. Learn how to track and retain students in a research program across time 5. Interact directly with youth and learn about the iCAST program by assisting group leaders in preparing for groups, including locating youth for intervention sessions 6. Participate in family or school-based intervention components (facilitate family meetings, observe family dynamics) and learn about group-based intervention techniques

Skills / Experience Preferred

Good attention to detail. Ability to work with a range of socioeconomic backgrounds, talk on the phone, and discuss and schedule with participants. Some computer and psychology coursework is helpful. Transportation is ideal but not required.
