Short Project Description

Project investigates memory, emotion, and psychophysiology in anxious and non anxious individuals. Comparing four groups of individuals (PTSD, trauma exposed no PTSD, panic disorder, and no psychopathology) we are looking at the content and structure of emotional memories, and are also investigating how psychophysiology is affected by emotional tasks. Finally, we are comparing the effects of PTSD treatment on emotional responding and psychophysiology. Study participants are asked to complete structured interviews and questionnaires, recall 3 emotional memories out-loud each for five minutes, and listen to the emotional narratives played back to them. Participants will be connected to psychophysiological equipment to monitor heart rate, breathing and skin conductance throughout the protocol. RA responsibilities may include recruitment, interviews, administering the protocol (including psychophysiology hook-up and recording the narratives), data entry, coding of verbal narratives, and scoring/analysis of psychophysiological data.
