Short Project Description

The research projects involve the complex relationship of hormones and human cognition in the context of aging and various medical disorders such as Cancer.

Skills / Experience Preferred

This position is ideal for motivated Psychology or Pre-Med or Neuroscience students who are interested in obtaining good research experience. We have only one position opening this fall, and we are currently accepting applications. Only individuals who are able to commit to one year of Psychology 499 credit work will be considered. The research projects involve the complex relationship of hormones and human cognition in the context of aging and various medical disorders such as Cancer. These projects involve working with real patients as well as community dwelling volunteers. Depending on your previous experience and desire to obtain experience, the position may include coordinating the operations of clinical, biomedical and/or behavioral research studies involving human subjects.; apply protocol, conduct interviews, administer neuropsychological tests, record observations; score tests, record results, process biomedical samples, coordinate management of study data and assist with presentation of results. Computer knowledge is important, and experience with windows, Eprime, Excell, Powerpoint, and MS word are very helpful. Experience with psychology, research methods and cognitive psychology are also helpful but not necessary. Availability of transportation is necessary. This position will involve work at both the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance(SCCA)/FHCRC and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
