Short Project Description

The Housing First Project focuses on housing attainment for homeless individuals with severe alcohol-related problems. The Housing First team is currently partnering with the Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC), the nonprofit agency that operates the Housing First project, to explore how housing positively impacts residents’ health outcomes and how these positive outcomes may be further enhanced with interventions targeting alcohol use.

Other: •Attend weekly research team meetings, Mondays 3:30-5:00 pm Guthrie Annex 3, 120 (approximately 1-1.5 hours each week) •Complete training in the following areas: UW human subjects training, threats to research validity; data entry. •Conducting literature searches and helping with manual and journal article preparation. •Help with preliminary data analyses and data management •Transcription/data entry of open-ended focus group and interview data. •Maintain accurate and detailed records. •Maintain confidentiality of participant information. •Providing on-going feedback on survey administration and procedures, and assisting in problem-solving solutions.

Skills / Experience Preferred

Prefer students who have at least 2 years of college level coursework and students who have previous experience working with homeless individuals.
