Undergraduate Advising Staff
Carrie Perrin, Director of Student Services
Welcome to the Psychology Department! Whether you are a prospective student or a declared psychology major, Tracy , Vicky, Jamila and I are eager to help you achieve your academic goals. I've worked at the University of Washington since arriving in Seattle in 1988, and have spent the majority of that time happily here in the Psychology Department. I enjoy my job because it gives me the opportunity to work one-on-one with students and also to look at academic advising issues from a broader, system-wide perspective. Home for me is beautiful Vashon Island , where I enjoy running, walking, swimming, and watching my son play baseball and football. My family and I share the "ranch" with three dogs, two goats, a llama, and a miniature donkey. My UW "home" is Guthrie Hall so please stop by for a visit!
Vicky Burke, Senior Academic Advisor
Welcome! I want to encourage you to look around our website and invite you to let us know when you have questions. We are happy to help you. I love working in the psychology department and have enjoyed working with students throughout their undergraduate experience. I started my career at Purdue University where I earned a masters degree in a counseling-based program called College Student Affairs. Subsequently, I have worked at Truman State University (Missouri) and at the University of Central Florida. I moved to Seattle in 2003 with my two fat cats.
Tracy Maschman-Morrissey, Senior Academic Advisor
Hello! I'm very excited to be part of the undergraduate advising team in psychology. I am now able to combine two of my loves – working with students and psychology. My path to this position followed a few curves, beginning with my undergraduate studies at a tiny college in Wisconsin , Lawrence University . While there I studied psychology, which included completing an honors thesis and also received my teaching certification. I then went on to receive a Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University of Notre Dame. From there, I moved to Dublin , Ireland , where I worked as a therapist for three years. I love spending time with my baby daughter, Áine, husband and family. After work you can find me in the Hec Ed, swimming with Husky Masters. I also love coffee, running, travel, eating and laughing with friends, movies and the outdoors. Another love is Seattle, my husband and I moved here from Ireland three years ago and I've never felt more at home.
My position here includes focusing on psychology alumni and developing internship possibilities for students. I also co-facilitate the applying to graduate school support group.
Jamila Lane, Peer Advisor
Welcome classmates! As both a nontraditional and transfer student, I bring a unique perspective to the advising staff. Born and raised in Atlanta , GA , I started my academic career in engineering at the University of Virginia , followed by math and economics at Spelman College . I have finally found my home in psychology at the University of Washington . As I am also in the “trenches”, I understand the day-to-day stressors that come with being a student. I encourage students to use me as a resource for insight into classes, college survival tips, or even as a sounding board for rants and raves. I moved to Seattle in December 2005 with my boyfriend and we now have two rambunctious cats.
