- The student will understand the relationship between empirical work and theories about human memory.
- The student will develop the critical thinking skills necessary to evaluate and explain psychological issues and arguments related to this field.
- The student will be able to present their explanations and arguments in coherent written form using scientific writing style.
- In particular, the student will understand by the 3-store model of memory and the research it has generated.
- The student will understand each component of the model, the early supporting evidence, as well as contemporary views and counter arguments.
- The student will also understand principles involved in tying memory processes to their biological underpinnings based on some specific examples.
- The student will become familiar with emerging topics in memory such as autobiographical memory, implicit memory, and the effect of emotion on memory.
