- Gain historical perspective on the development of statistical inference in behavioral science.
- Hone one’s understanding of the value and limitations of null hypothesis significance testing.
- Develop a working knowledge of competing/supplemental inferential methods (e.g., confidence intervals, effect sizes, Bayesian inference, meta-analysis).
- Understand how simulation methods are used to assess the robustness of competing statistical procedures.
- Become exposed to the scholarly work of leading psychologists and methodologists who have conducted research or written about statistical procedures.
